Ceramic coating on a sports car

Specialty Service

Ceramic Coating

We apply professional-grade SiO2 ceramic coating directly to your clear coat, creating a semi-permanent hydrophobic layer that repels water, UV radiation, and surface contaminants. Protection packages are available in 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year tiers.

Hardness Rating

  • Hydrophobic self-cleaning effect
  • UV protection — prevents oxidation & fading
  • Chemical resistance to bird droppings, tree sap
  • Enhances gloss and depth of paint color

Paint correction on a sports car

Specialty Service

Paint Correction

Paint correction uses machine polishing to remove swirl marks, scratches, water spots, and oxidation from your clear coat without adding wax or filler. Single-stage and multi-stage correction is available based on paint condition.

70-90%+

Defect Removal

Multi-stage

Machine Polishing

  • Single-stage polish — removes 70-80% of defects
  • Multi-stage correction — removes 90%+ of defects
  • Swirl mark and buffer trail removal
  • Deep scratch assessment and treatment
  • Restores mirror-like gloss and depth
  • Often paired with ceramic coating for best results

*Pricing varies by vehicle size, paint condition, and number of correction stages.

Waxing and sealant application on an SUV

Paint Protection

Waxing and Paint Sealants

We apply carnauba wax or synthetic polymer sealant by machine for a durable gloss finish and short-term paint protection. Wax and sealants are the right maintenance choice between ceramic coating applications.

  • Carnauba wax for warm, deep gloss
  • Synthetic polymer sealant for longer-life protection
  • Strong water beading and sheeting
  • UV resistance — slows oxidation and fade
  • Trim and plastic protectant application
  • Tire shine + glass sealant included

*Pricing varies by vehicle size and chosen product.

Cut and buffing on a luxury sedan

Paint Refinement

Cut and Buffing

Cut and buff uses compounding and machine polishing to remove heavier surface defects, dull clear coat, and significant oxidation. This is the right service when paint has degraded beyond what a standard polish can correct.

  • Compound + polish cut-and-buff process
  • Removes light-to-moderate oxidation
  • Reduces visible swirls and wash marring
  • Restores gloss and clarity to dull paint
  • Safe finishing pass to seal results
  • Excellent prep before sealant or ceramic

*Pricing varies by vehicle size and paint condition.

Clay bar and polish on a luxury vehicle

Paint Prep

Clay Bar and Machine Polishing

Clay bar treatment removes bonded surface contaminants that washing alone cannot lift. Combined with machine polishing, this service leaves paint smooth, clean, and ready for any protective coating or wax application.

  • Full clay-bar decontamination pass
  • Removes industrial fallout and overspray
  • Finishing polish for silky-smooth feel
  • Restores reflective clarity
  • Perfect prep for protection layers
  • Glass and trim treated to match

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Detailing Services

What detailing services does Mobile Detailing Expert offer?

Mobile Detailing Expert offers seven professional detailing services: interior detailing, exterior detailing, ceramic coating, paint correction, waxing and sealants, cut and buffing, and clay bar and polishing. We perform these services on cars, boats, RVs, and motorcycles across 80+ cities in the United States. Every service is performed on-site at your location by a certified detailer. We do not operate a fixed shop and we never require you to drive your vehicle anywhere. The service comes to you regardless of what you drive or what service you need.

Do you offer all services for every vehicle type?

We offer six of our seven services across all four vehicle types. Interior detailing is available for cars, boats, and RVs but not motorcycles, because motorcycles do not have an enclosed interior. Every exterior service, including ceramic coating, paint correction, waxing and sealants, cut and buffing, clay bar treatment, and full exterior detailing, is available for all four vehicle types. If you are unsure what applies to your specific vehicle, contact us and a detailer will walk you through your options before you book.

How long does each detailing service take?

Service times vary by type and vehicle size. An interior detail on a standard sedan typically takes 2 to 4 hours. An exterior detail takes 1 to 3 hours. Ceramic coating takes 4 to 8 hours depending on vehicle size and the number of coats applied. Paint correction ranges from 4 to 12 hours depending on the severity of surface defects. Boats and RVs take longer than standard cars due to surface area. We give you a clear time estimate when you request a quote so you can plan your day around the job.

What is the difference between waxing and ceramic coating?

Wax sits on top of your paint and provides temporary protection, typically 1 to 3 months for carnauba wax and 6 to 12 months for a synthetic sealant. Ceramic coating bonds chemically to your clear coat and creates a semi-permanent protective layer that lasts 2 to 5 years with proper maintenance. Ceramic coating is harder, more hydrophobic, and more resistant to chemical etching and UV damage than any wax product. Waxing is the right choice for regular maintenance on a budget. Ceramic coating is the right choice for long-term protection that requires less ongoing upkeep.

What is paint correction and do I need it?

Paint correction is a machine-polishing process that removes defects from your vehicle's clear coat, including swirl marks, light scratches, water spot etching, and oxidation that dulls paint over time. You need it if your paint looks flat in sunlight, shows swirl marks after every wash, or has visible scratches that did not break through the clear coat. If you are planning to apply ceramic coating, paint correction is strongly recommended first so the coating bonds to a clean, defect-free surface. Our detailers assess your paint on-site and tell you whether correction is needed before recommending any service.

Can you detail the interior of a boat or RV?

Yes. Interior detailing is available for both boats and RVs. Boat interior detailing covers vinyl seating, carpeted areas, storage compartments, dash panels, and all hard interior surfaces. RV interior detailing covers the full living space including kitchen surfaces, bathroom fixtures, flooring, upholstery, and cabinetry. The process uses the same deep-cleaning approach as car interior detailing but scaled to the materials and layout specific to each vehicle type. We bring all equipment and supplies to your marina, storage yard, or campsite.

Do your detailers carry their own water and power?

Yes. Our detailers bring self-contained setups with water tanks and power sources for locations where hookups are not available. For larger jobs such as full RV exteriors or boats over 30 feet, we may require a water connection at your location. We confirm access requirements when you request a quote so there are no surprises on the day of service. In most residential driveway situations, no hookup from you is needed at all.

What is clay bar treatment and why does it matter before waxing or ceramic coating?

Clay bar treatment removes bonded surface contaminants that regular washing cannot lift, including industrial fallout, rail dust, brake dust, tree sap residue, and road grime that has embedded itself into the clear coat. You can feel the difference: a contaminated surface feels rough to the touch even after a thorough wash. After clay bar treatment, the surface feels smooth and glassy. This step matters before any protective product is applied because wax or ceramic coating applied over contamination locks that contamination in rather than removing it. Claying first ensures the protective product bonds directly to clean paint.

How often should I have my vehicle detailed?

For most cars driven daily, a full detail every 3 to 6 months maintains paint and interior condition. Boats used in saltwater should be detailed more frequently, at least once mid-season and once after the season ends, because salt accelerates oxidation and gelcoat degradation. RVs stored outdoors benefit from a full exterior detail and sealant application at least once per year. Motorcycles ridden year-round should be detailed at least twice a year. If you have ceramic coating applied, maintenance intervals are longer because the coating actively repels the contaminants that would otherwise require more frequent detailing.

How do I choose between exterior detailing, waxing, and paint correction?

The right service depends on the current condition of your paint. Exterior detailing is a comprehensive wash and surface treatment appropriate for regular maintenance when your paint is in good shape. Waxing or sealant application adds a protective layer on top of a clean surface and is the right follow-up to exterior detailing. Paint correction is needed when the surface has defects such as scratches, swirls, or oxidation that must be removed before any protection is worth applying. If your paint looks good but needs protection, exterior detailing followed by waxing or a sealant is the right call. If your paint looks dull or scratched, start with paint correction and protect it from there.
